Desperate for slumber that is not
Thwarted by thoughts of mortality
Shaken to my core
My fate is unwarranted
So much unfinished business
A paradox of consciousness
Life is fleeting so I cling to my beloved
Sharp uncertainty rings throughout and weighs me down
Born waiting on bated breath
For a dance with death.
